Maya is a creative all-rounder and final year student at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), completing a Bachelor of Communications (majoring in Media Arts Production) and a Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation.
Throughout her studies, she’s created award-winning films, spent a semester abroad in Japan, received the Dean Merit Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, pitched to industry partners across public and private sectors, served as Vice-President of the UTS Hip Hop [Street Dance] Society, and volunteered with The Big Lift in regional towns across NSW and Victoria.
Creatively, Maya is drawn towards documentary and experimental film and literature, often directing from her personal experience with Asian-Australian culture ('House of Ma') and as a dancer of over 18 years (‘Dink: Deconstructed’).
As she enters the industry, Maya is eager to use her craft to foster community, empower education and keep the pulse of humanity alive.
